Science & Research
Standardized Azadirachta indica (Neem) multi-part extract delivering concentrated limonoids (nimbidin, nimbolide, azadirachtin) and flavonoids (quercetin, β-sitosterol). Nimbidin demonstrates broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, dermatophytes, and Candida species through disruption of cell membrane integrity. Nimbolide exhibits potent anti-inflammatory action via suppression of NF-κB, AP-1, and Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathways. As a premier rakta shodhak (blood purifier), Neem's triterpenoids support hepatic phase I/II detoxification, promoting clearance of circulating toxins manifesting as dermatological conditions. Immunomodulatory activity includes macrophage activation and enhancement of both cell-mediated and humoral immune responses.
Clinical Key Functions
- Macrophage activation enhancing innate immune surveillance*
- Blood glucose modulation through insulin-sensitizing activity*
- Dermatological support via internal purification and anti-inflammatory pathways*

Ayurvedic Philosophy
Nimba (Neem) is the quintessential Tikta Rasa (bitter taste) herb and holds the title of foremost Kushthaghna (anti-dermatosis) and Krimighna (antimicrobial) in the Ayurvedic pharmacopoeia. In classical pathology, skin diseases (Kushtha) arise from vitiation of Rakta Dhatu (blood tissue) by Pitta-Kapha Samsarga, producing circulating Ama that manifests externally. Neem's treatment approach embodies the principle of 'Bahya-abhyantara Chikitsa' (external-internal treatment) — purifying Rakta Dhatu internally through its Tikta-Kashaya Rasa while simultaneously providing Krimighna action. The Charaka Samhita lists Nimba among multiple Mahakashaya groupings including Kandughna (anti-pruritic), Kushthaghna, and Tiktaskandha — underscoring its versatility.
