About This Herb
Called the 'village pharmacy' in India, Neem is one of the most versatile medicinal trees on Earth. Every part of the tree is used therapeutically. It is especially valued as a powerful blood purifier and skin health supporter, fighting bacteria, fungi, and inflammation from the inside out.
Where It Grows
Native to Indian subcontinent, particularly India. Widely cultivated throughout India, especially in dry and tropical regions. Also grown in subtropical and tropical regions of Southeast Asia, Africa, and other warm climates. Thrives in warm tropical to subtropical climates with annual rainfall of 400-2250 mm. Grows in diverse soil types but prefers well-drained soils. Highly adaptable to arid and semi-arid conditions and commonly found in urban and rural areas across India.

The premier Rakta Shodhak (blood purifier) and Krimighna (antimicrobial) tree in Ayurveda. Neem is mentioned in all classical texts and is considered a cornerstone of preventive health. Its extremely bitter taste (Tikta Rasa) is considered the most purifying of all tastes. Classified as Kushthaghna (anti-dermatosis), Jvaraghna (antipyretic), and Krimighna (antiparasitic). Rasa: Tikta (Bitter), Kashaya (Astringent). Virya: Sheeta (Cooling). Vipaka: Katu (Pungent). Dosha: Strongly pacifies Pitta and Kapha.
