California Proposition 65 Notice

What is Proposition 65?

The Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, commonly known as Proposition 65, is a California law that requires businesses to provide warnings about significant exposures to chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. These chemicals can be found in products purchased in California, in homes or workplaces, or that are released into the environment.

Why Do Herbal Supplements Carry This Warning?

Many herbal and botanical supplements carry Proposition 65 warnings because plants naturally absorb trace minerals from the soil, including lead and other heavy metals. This is true of all plants — including organic produce and herbs — regardless of how or where they are grown. The presence of trace amounts of naturally occurring elements does not necessarily mean the product is unsafe.

What We Do About It

We work with our manufacturing partners to ensure levels are as low as practically achievable while maintaining the traditional herbal formulations that have been used safely for thousands of years.
