Where It Grows

Thrives in dry, disturbed areas, agricultural fields, and semi-natural grasslands, preferring well-drained soils in hot, dry conditions.

A premier Mutrala (diuretic) and Vrishya (virility-promoting) herb. The name Gokshura means 'cow''s hoof' (describing the fruit shape). It is one of the most important herbs for Mutra-vahasrotas (uriary system) and Shukra-vahasrotas (reproductive system). Used in multiple classical Guggulu formulations. Rasa: Madhura (Sweet). Virya: Sheeta (Cooling). Vipaka: Madhura (Sweet). Dosha: Pacifies Vata and Pitta.
