About This Herb
Shilajit is a rare, tar-like substance that seeps from high-altitude rocks in the Himalayas. Formed over centuries from decomposed plant matter, it is one of the most prized substances in Ayurveda for its ability to enhance energy, stamina, and cellular vitality. It acts as a natural 'battery charger' for your cells.
Where It Grows
Found in the Himalayan mountain range, particularly in the regions of Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand in India at elevations of 1000-5000 meters. Also found in other high-altitude mountain regions including the Karakoram and Hindu Kush ranges. Collected from rock crevices and geological formations in high-altitude cold climates. Geographical origin affects elemental and phytochemical composition, with Indian Himalayan shilajit being most studied.
Ayurvedic Profile
Called 'conqueror of mountains and destroyer of weakness' in classical texts. Shilajit is classified as a Yogavahi (bmoenhancer) that amplifies the effects of other herbs. The Charaka Samhita states there is no disease on Earth that cannot be treated with Shilajit when administered properly. It is a premier Rasayana for all seven dhatus (tissues). Rasa: Tikta (Bitter), Lavana (Salty), Kashaya (Astringent). Virya: Sheeta (Cooling). Vipaka: Katu (Pungent). Dosha: Tridoshic when purified.
Key Benefits
Cellular energy production, stamina, nutrient absorption enhancement, reproductive vitality, anti-aging
